Taneli Mansikkamäki Architects
TM-A was founded in Berlin in the summer of 2021 to continue an inquiry towards more human and ecocentric architectural frameworks and processes.
Taneli Mansikkamäki architects (fka AGO) is an international architecture studio based in Berlin. Mansikkamäki also runs a design studio at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London where his research is based on architectural forms addressing the minimum partition, understanding architecture and their local contexts always as a part of complex global political and environmental systems.
The studio has also a specific interest in automated wood construction and is currently working on several mass timber housing projects reflecting Finland’s landscapes and forests but also the country’s rapid advancement in technology, mobility and equality.
Mansikkamäki worked in tech and new media before moving to London to study at the Architectural Association where he graduated in 2011 with a thesis Towards an Ideal Plan, proposing co-housing scheme with alternative models of ownership and space economics.
Mansikkamäki’s work has been published widely in magazines, AMC Architecture, Finnish Architectural Review, Detail, Dezeen, Divisare, Frame magazine, Grand Designs, Helsingin Sanomat, WIRE magazine etc.
His clients include private individuals, companies and institutions. He has collaborated with commercial brands such as Stella McCartney, several artists and designers such as Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst, Laure Prouvost, Klaus Haapaniemi. He has previously collaborated with offices Future Systems and Cecil Balmond. He has also served as a visiting critic in several universities such as University of Cambridge, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design and Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart and South East University in Nanjing.
